We know that eBay is really taking mobile seriously and the company just released an update to its eBay Motors iPhone app which will let you snap a picture of a car, have it identified for you and then be able to buy inventory for it.

This image-recognition technology will probably make for a great show-off feature but there’s a practical reason for it too. Sometimes, it’s just easier to snap a picture than to type in your car, the make, model and year. Additionally, the app will include some live-streamed content from the Rolex 24 at Daytona this weekend.
Other features of the eBay Motors app include:

  • More winning – receive notifications for when you are outbid, when items you are watching are ending, and updates on the current Best Offer

• Stock your Garage – stock images for vehicles are now available for quick and easy profile updates to users’ personal eBay Motors “Garage,” providing simple search for parts that fit your car, and simple sharing options
  • Tweet it out – easily share the parts and vehicles you are buying or selling with your followers on Twitter (currently for iOS 5 only)

You can download the new eBay Motors app here (iTunes link).
